WORKSHOP FEE
From this non-accredited workshop, participants will receive a Certificate of Participation identifying the required competency in Diabetes Care. The session is ideal for carers, friends, or family members seeking the knowledge and skills on how to monitor blood sugar levels, including a step-by-step guide on how to take blood sugar readings and how to record the reading.
This workshop designed to educate people that are either living with diabetes or caring for someone who is, giving them the knowledge and skills to understand diabetes and support the individual.

- Freestyle techniques with manual handling, transfers and repositioning
- Correct position and working height, back care principles
- Correct and safe use of mechanical hoists
– Sling Hoist and standing Hoist
- Safety features of mechanical hoist
- Correct and safe use of Slide Sheets
- Assessing risk involving transfers and repositioning
- Referring to individual care plans with transfers and repositioning
- Selecting the appropriate equipment for the task
- Hand washing and Infection control
- Maintenance, cleaning and storing of equipment
- Perform and complete the transfer and or reposition safely and follow the organisation policy and procedures
- Wheelchair transfers
- Wheelchair storage into car safely
